Established in 1914, the facility has earned notable environmental and community service awards. Programming includes The Last Mile, which offers training in coding and multimedia production. Additional programs focus on education, parenting, and vocational development. Incarcerated individuals are encouraged to build skills that support re-entry success. Staff maintain a safe, structured environment focused on rehabilitation.Role OverviewThe Facilities Maintenance Foreman is responsible for ensuring the safety, reliability, and operational readiness of the Putnamville Correctional Facility's infrastructure. This position oversees preventive maintenance programs, coordinates repair activities, and directs the work of skilled trades staff to maintain essential systems including electrical, plumbing, structural, and mechanical components. By upholding regulatory standards, safety requirements, and institutional procedures, this role directly supports the security, daily operations, and mission of the facility. The supervisor also manages project planning, cost estimation, resource allocation, and staff development to ensure high-quality, efficient, and compliant maintenance operations.Salary Statement: The salary for this position traditionally starts at $42,900.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience. Depending on the retirement plan you choose, the total compensation value of a $42,900.00 salary, including the State's retirement contributions, can reach approximately $69,822.98. This highlights the full value of your benefits package, beyond your take-home pay.A Day in the LifeThe essential functions of this role are as follows:Solicit cost estimates or cost proposals.Estimate costs and work hours for maintenance projects.Oversee and participate in preventive maintenance and repairs of facilities.Maintain accountability of materials, tools, equipment, and vehicles.Ensure compliance, of self and assigned personnel, with all appropriate protective and safety requirements.Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development.Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees.Ensure work adheres to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures.Workday attendance at assigned worksite(s) is an essential function of this position.The job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee.
