Job Title: Production Supervisor

Job Description

The Production Supervisor oversees the safety, quality, training, development, and productivity of production personnel and equipment on an assigned shift. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires strong mechanical aptitude, a focus on continuous improvement, and the ability to drive performance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations on the production floor, including scheduling, staffing, training, and troubleshooting to ensure all activities meet or exceed safety, quality, and efficiency standards.

  • Assign duties to employees and regularly monitor their work to ensure tasks are completed safely, accurately, and efficiently.

  • Complete, compile, review, and submit production, process, and quality reports to management, ensuring accurate and timely manufacturing information.

  • Motivate and lead team members by providing ongoing coaching and development opportunities, and monitor performance through documented evaluations, key performance indicators (KPIs), and performance improvement plans as needed.

  • Coordinate departmental activities to meet manufacturing schedules, taking proactive action to increase overall equipment effectiveness and reduce operating costs.

  • Promote and model teamwork by collaborating with both interdepartmental and intradepartmental staff to improve productivity and quality standards to meet customer requirements.

  • Identify, participate in, and lead continuous improvement projects focused on improving products and processes, reducing waste, and lowering costs.

  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by enforcing safety policies, housekeeping standards, and best practices on the production floor.

  • Operate or oversee the safe use of forklifts and material handling equipment to support production activities.

  • Apply LEAN and process improvement methodologies, demonstrating a proven track record of implementing and sustaining process improvements.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience leading manufacturing teams, with proven exposure to lean manufacturing or process improvement environments.

  • High school diploma required; additional related education is preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience in production and manufacturing processes and techniques.

  • Proven ability to understand, track, and communicate production metrics and KPIs, including developing metrics, holding teams accountable, and supporting corrective action resolution.

  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude and comfort working in a production environment.

  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey expectations, feedback, and performance results to team members and leadership.

  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to organize work, prioritize tasks, and drive initiatives to completion.

  • Experience in supervision or production supervision, including performance management and coaching.

  • Practical knowledge of lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and process improvement methodologies.

  • Experience with quality assurance and quality control practices in a manufacturing setting.

  • Forklift and material handling experience.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of employee, department, and company information.

  • Ability to work assigned hours and additional overtime as needed.

Work Environment

This role is based in a general manufacturing environment that is not climate controlled, requiring comfort working in varying temperatures and typical production-floor conditions. The position follows a 12-hour shift schedule, working 7:00 pm to 7:00 am, initially Thursday through Sunday and then 7:00 pm to 7:00 am Friday through Sunday on a rotating basis. The environment includes active production lines, material handling equipment such as forklifts, and standard industrial machinery, requiring adherence to safety procedures and the use of appropriate personal protective equipment. The work setting emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and safe operating practices to maintain a safe and efficient production floor.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $62000.00/yr.
