Managing Director, Total Rewards

Opportunity Overview The Managing Director of Total Rewards plays a key leadership role in the strategic design, implementation, and governance of the firm's compensation, benefits, retirement, and wellbeing programs across North America, working in close partnership with and under the direction of the Head of Total Rewards. This role partners closely with senior leadership to ensure total rewards strategies support business objectives, promote pay equity, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain market competitiveness. The Managing Director oversees the total rewards budget, leads market and data analytics, manages external vendors, and drives communication strategies that enhance employee understanding and appreciation of the firm's rewards offerings. Key Responsibilities
Total Rewards Strategy & Design
- Partner in the development and leadership of a comprehensive North American total rewards strategy aligned with business objectives, organizational culture, and talent acquisition and retention goals.
- Anticipate market and workforce trends to ensure programs remain competitive, scalable, and aligned with evolving business needs. Compensation Governance
- Oversee Home Office and Client Support Team Member compensation strategies, including base salary programs, short- and long-term incentive plans, and executive compensation.
- Establish and maintain strong compensation governance frameworks to ensure consistency, equity, and alignment with performance and business outcomes. Benefits & Wellbeing
- Oversee the design, implementation, and administration of health, welfare, retirement, and wellbeing programs.
- Ensure offerings are competitive, cost-effective, and aligned with employee needs and organizational financial objectives. Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure all total rewards programs comply with applicable federal, state, local, and international regulations, including FLSA, ERISA, and pay transparency requirements.
- Proactively identify and mitigate legal, financial, and reputational risks related to rewards programs. Executive & Board Relations
- Prepare, present, and advise on materials for the Compensation Committee, Benefits Management Committee, Benefits Administrative Committee, Welfare Committee, and Pricing and Compensation Committee. Market Benchmarking & Analytics
- Lead complex market benchmarking, competitive analysis, and internal equity reviews.
- Leverage data and analytics to inform decision-making, program design, and executive recommendations. Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Manage senior-level relationships with brokers, consultants, and third-party administrators.
- Lead request-for-proposal (RFP) processes and evaluate vendors to ensure high-quality service delivery and cost efficiency. Team Leadership

- 12+ years of progressive experience in Total Rewards leadership
- Professional certifications preferred: CCP, CBP, CECP. Salary Information Edward Jones' compensation and benefits package includes medical and prescription drug, dental, vision, voluntary benefits (such as accident, hospital indemnity, and critical illness), short- and long-term disability, basic life, and basic AD&D coverage. Short- and long-term disability, basic life, and basic AD&D coverage are provided at no cost to associates. Edward Jones offers a 401k retirement plan, and tax-advantaged accounts: health savings account, and flexible spending account. Edward Jones observes ten paid holidays and provides 15 days of vacation for new associates beginning on January 1 of each year, as well as sick time, personal days, and a paid day for volunteerism. Associates may be eligible for bonuses and profit sharing. All associates are eligible for the firm's Employee Assistance Program.
