Compensation and Benefits Specialist

We are pleased to offer the opportunity to work as a Compensation and Benefits Specialist within the DuPage County Department of Human Resources. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate and complete the bi‑weekly payroll process for the County. Maintain recordkeeping and payroll policies. Prepare and execute system‑required reports. Create personnel/payroll data and tax records within the Dayforce system. Record and balance payroll withholding taxes. Verify and maintain information concerning accruals. Ensure and maintain employee and elected official compensation from appropriate documentation. Train and instruct employees in proper payroll procedures. Maintain and update annual tax forms related to payroll. Administer employee benefit plans and programs. Act as a liaison with benefit providers and employees. Coordinate the annual open enrollment process. Maintain up‑to‑date records of employee benefit information. Participate in benefit orientation for new employees. Implement union contract provisions to ensure pay and benefits enter the Dayforce system. Review and verify output of work. Update or draft County payroll and benefit policies for compliance with federal and state regulations. Resolve payroll and benefit discrepancies. Resolve benefit issues with billing and eligibility. Respond to inquiries and requests from County employees regarding payroll and benefit information and processes. Compile, analyze, and reconcile financial and statistical data and generate reports. Prepare verbal and written communications for various benefit and payroll programs. Update management staff on payroll and benefit related personnel and operational issues. Provide backup for all other payroll and benefit staff members.EDUCATION AND OR EXPERIENCE
Completion of an Associate's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field and three (3) years of experience in administering compensation, payroll, or benefits programs; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. A passing score on skill tests in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Payroll is required. A pre‑employment background check is required.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
