Software Development Manager

Software Development Manager, AVPAxos Bank is seeking a Software Development Manager, AVP to lead engineering delivery for Axos Bank's Core Services platform, the backbone of the enterprise. This leader will own end-to-end design, development, delivery, and production stability across multiple backend services that underpin all lines of business. This role requires a hands-on engineering leader with deep expertise in.NET and distributed systems, combined with strong production ownership, incident management, and delivery governance capabilities. Experience with OutSystems—or a demonstrated willingness to learn it—is a key asset as the team expands its low-code/rapid delivery capabilities alongside traditional development.This is an on-site position that may be based at any Axos office location nationwide.Responsibilities:Lead and manage a team of Senior Engineers, Tech Leads, and offshore developersOwn end-to-end delivery of Core Services platforms including Identity, Rules Manager, Document, Notification, and APIsDrive high engineering standards across code quality, performance, scalability, and securityEnsure production stability and rapid incident resolution, including active participation in RCA and ITN processesPartner with Product Owners to ensure clear requirements, realistic commitments, and predictable deliveryEnforce release governance standards, ensuring all deliverables meet SLA expectations and QE approvalsLead architecture discussions and modernization initiatives including service isolation, enterprise caching, and platform scalabilityChampion or oversee OutSystems-based development where applicable—driving adoption, best practices, and integration with core.NET servicesCollaborate with Infra, DBA, and NOC teams on capacity planning, deployments, and performance optimizationBuild a culture of ownership, accountability, and responsiveness, including after-hours production supportDrive talent development, hiring, and performance management within the teamProvide executive-level communication on delivery status, risks, incidents, and mitigation plansRequirements:Bachelor's degree8+ years of software engineering experience with 3+ years in engineering leadership rolesStrong expertise in.NET backend development, APIs, and distributed systemsProven experience managing mission-critical, high-availability platformsStrong understanding of production support, incident response, and RCA processesExperience leading onshore/offshore teams and driving accountability across time zonesDemonstrated ability to deliver in regulated environmentsExcellent stakeholder management and executive communication skillsOutSystems experience (or genuine commitment and aptitude to learn OutSystems rapidly for platform delivery use cases)Preferred:OutSystems Developer or Architect certification (or in-progress)Experience integrating OutSystems with enterprise.NET backends, APIs, and core banking systemsBackground in core banking integrations or payment systemsExposure to enterprise caching (e.g., Redis), identity platforms, or rules enginesExperience navigating cloud vs. on-prem architecture trade-offs in regulated environmentsAxos Employee Benefits May Include:Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life InsurancePaid Sick Leave, 3 weeks' Vacation, and Holidays (about 11 a year)HSA or FSA account and other voluntary benefits401(k) Retirement Saving Plan with Employer Match Program and 529 Savings PlanEmployee Mortgage Loan Program and free access to an Axos Bank Account with Self-Directed TradingBorn digital-first, Axos delivers financial tools and services that allow individuals, small businesses, and companies to access and manage their money how, when, and where they want.
