Role Description The Senior Matrimonial Attorney will manage a caseload of high-net-worth divorce and complex family law matters, providing comprehensive counsel from intake through resolution in a full-time, on-site role based in White Plains, NY. Day-to-day responsibilities include advising clients on matrimonial and family law issues, drafting and reviewing pleadings, motions, agreements, and correspondence, and overseeing discovery and financial analysis in high-asset cases. The attorney will conduct legal research, develop case strategy, and represent clients in negotiations, mediations, settlement conferences, and court appearances. Collaboration with colleagues, staff, and outside professionals (such as financial experts and mental health professionals) is essential, along with maintaining strict confidentiality, clear communication, and a high level of professionalism in all client interactions. The Senior Matrimonial Attorney will also assist in managing junior attorneys, as well as the paralegals and legal support staff. Qualifications Strong foundation in Matrimonial/Family Law, with proven experience handling divorce, custody, and high-asset matters. Demonstrated ability to provide Legal Advice, including risk assessment, strategic counseling, and client guidance in complex situations. Proficiency in legal Research and analysis, including case law, statutes, regulations, and financial documentation relevant to matrimonial disputes. Advanced Negotiation skills for settlements, mediation, and contested proceedings, with a focus on achieving favorable, practical outcomes. Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and admission in good standing to the New York State Bar. 3+ years of experience in matrimonial or family law; prior work with high-net-worth or complex financial cases is strongly preferred. Excellent written and oral advocacy skills, including drafting sophisticated agreements and litigating in court. High level of discretion, sound judgment, and professionalism when working with high-profile and high-net-worth clients. Ability to manage multiple matters, lead client relationships, and collaborate effectively within a boutique firm environment.
