Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring a TN or compact RN license, prior travel experience with MS background, and the ability to pass an EKG test prior to start.

Details

• Community hospital Med/Surg Telemetry unit
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
• Every other weekend required (approximately 2 weekends per month)
• Primary nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:6 nights; a team nursing model may be used with greater ratios
• Floating is required in accordance with facility policy and The Joint Commission standards
• Cerner EMR experience preferred but not required
• Telemetry monitoring performed on the unit

Requirements

• Active TN or compact RN license required and must be in hand at time of consideration
• Required certifications (all must be in hand): BLS (AHA), ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience required; 2–3 years preferred
• Must be able to pass an EKG competency test prior to start date
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred, with MS experience considered in lieu
• Experience with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:6 or greater
• Candidates with a work gap greater than 3 months in the past 3 years may require additional screening
• All licenses and certifications must not expire within 45 days of the assignment start date

Additional Information

• Preferred skills include IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, central/PICC/peripheral line management, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), ABG interpretation, tracheostomy care, continuous bladder irrigation (CBI), pre/post hemodialysis management, CVA and seizure disorder care, substance withdrawal management, feeding tube care, heparin protocols, non-titrating cardiac drips, wound care/wound VAC, pre/post cardiac cath care, and surgical drain management
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel pay rate; candidates within 75 miles may be considered at a reduced rate
• Former permanent staff of Covenant Health cannot return to the same campus within 24 months; they may return to a different Covenant Health campus after 12 months
• RTO is not permitted within the first 14 days of the assignment and cannot exceed 7 consecutive days total
• RTO will not be accommodated during the following holidays or surrounding periods: Valentine's Day, Spring Break, Easter, Mother's Day, Memorial Day, Father's Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Fall Break, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's; RTO requests may be discussed with the manager onsite after arrival
• Orientation is conducted bi-weekly and includes non-billable online modules completed through the facility's internal system
• Married couples or family members who are both travelers cannot be placed on the same unit
