Title: Community Affairs Coordinator
Location: Bronx, New York
Reports to: Director of Partnerships
Pay Range: $75,000 – $78,000 per year
Classification: Exempt
Employment Type: Full-time (35 hours per week)
Role Summary: The Community Affairs Coordinator will play a pivotal role in cultivating and sustaining robust partnerships between the organization and its community stakeholders. This position entails planning and executing community outreach workshops and activities, managing relationships with local organizations, identifying resources for residents, and representing the organization at various events. The ideal candidate is deeply passionate about community engagement, possesses exceptional communication skills, and demonstrates a proven history of successfully coordinating community or program events.
Primary Job Responsibilities/Duties:
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Plan, organize, and execute community outreach programs, workshops, and public events to connect residents with essential resources and support services.
- Represent the organization at community meetings, hiring fairs, public forums, and other events to enhance visibility and foster trust.
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with community leaders, organizations, and stakeholders to improve service delivery and resource accessibility.
- Identify and secure resources through partnerships to support and expand transitional housing programs across all NAICA sites.
- Develop and deliver educational presentations and workshops focusing on self-sufficiency, financial literacy, and access to community services.
- Collaborate with internal departments and leadership to align community engagement strategies with organizational goals and mission.
- Maintain a centralized calendar of outreach activities, ensuring effective coordination across departments and external partners.
- Track and document all community engagement efforts, partnerships, and outcomes; prepare and submit monthly reports.
- Ensure all activities adhere to organizational policies, procedures, and standards.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to walk, stand, kneel, crouch, and bend over.
- Ability to lift, reach, and handle objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods.
- Ability to travel to different locations within New York City, as needed.
Work Environment / Schedule Requirements:
- This is a full-time, exempt position. While standard business hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, exempt employees are expected to work the hours necessary to effectively fulfill their job responsibilities, and based on organizational needs, deadlines, or events.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in social work, public relations, communications, or a related field, or a minimum of three (3) years of experience in community affairs, public relations, or a related field, preferably within a nonprofit setting.
- Demonstrated experience in organizing and implementing community outreach programs.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
- Experience in event planning and coordination is considered an asset.
- Proven ability to work effectively with culturally diverse groups.
- Familiarity with local community resources, networks, and stakeholders is highly desirable.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Bilingual skills are a plus.
- Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand English for administrative purposes.
- Must pass drug screening to be appointed.
- This position may be subject to a series of investigations before and after appointment.
