Job Title Respiratory Therapist – Full Time, Night Shift (BLH & BSH), 72 hrs per pay period Location Bronson LakeView Hospital (BLH) and Bronson South Haven (BSH) Benefits & Incentives Day1 benefits, competitive pay, advancement opportunities Sign‑on bonus up to $25,000 available for full‑time night shift Position Summary Under general supervision of the Respiratory Manager or Director, the respiratory therapist functions in patient care areas performing respiratory care according to provider prescriptions and established policies. Provides advanced respiratory diagnosis, rehabilitation, and serves as a resource of knowledge to providers, nurses, and other hospital team members. Qualifications Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy (AS); Bachelor’s degree preferred Current Respiratory Therapist license in the State of Michigan (required) Registered Respiratory Therapist credentials (RRT) required within 1 year of hire for hires after 2004 Must complete AHA courses: BLS, ACLS, PALS and AAP‑NRP (site requirements). BLS within 3 months of hire; ACLS, PALS, NRP within 1 year for BLH & BSH Completion of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program and 5 years of experience (for BLH & BSH) Job Requirements Work may involve mental and visual fatigue typical for varied duties with significant deadlines May operate and focus on a personal computer up to 40% of the time Requires standing, walking, regular lifting of light‑weight objects up to 50lbs, and assistance with heavier tasks such as patient moving Occasional stooping, crouching, or kneeling; quick movement to gather equipment and respond to emergencies Requires minor straining or fatiguing positions and some fatiguing motions Responsibilities Administer respiratory care to patients with cardiopulmonary abnormalities per provider orders, protocols, and guidelines Evaluate objective and subjective information, including blood gases, and discuss findings with providers and nurses Communicate ventilator recommendations based on patient evaluations and blood gases Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation and assist with Code Blue, performing life support per BLS, ACLS, NRP, and PALS guidelines Assist with or perform tracheal intubation when competent Maintain artificial airways (endotracheal tubes, tracheostomy tubes) per department policy, including suctioning and securing tubes Assume infant and pediatric resuscitation equipment usage in emergencies Assist with patient and family education and coordinate with the healthcare team Perform basic pulmonary function tests, EKGs, arterial blood gases, pulse oximetry, end‑tidal CO₂, and transcutaneous oximetry as per policies Assist with bedside bronchoscopies, intubations, and extubations Perform naso‑tracheal, endo‑tracheal, tracheal suction, and sample collections per policy Assist with patient transport via walking, wheelchair, gurney, or crib; may assist with ambulance transports between facilities Accurately communicate patient diagnosis and therapy during shift change reportsAccurately charge patients for all therapies performed Supervise and instruct Respiratory Care students, completing required preceptor courses Respond to patient census fluctuations and increased workloads, including overtime and shift changes as needed Maintain and clean respiratory equipment for readiness Orient and instruct new department personnel, nursing, students, and respiratory personnel in procedures Attend in‑services and online learning, adhering to education requirements Participate in departmental and hospital‑wide quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives Shift 12‑Hour night shift (full time) 36 hours per week #J-18808-Ljbffr Bronson Healthcare
