Systems Engineer

Employment Type: Direct Hire Location: Remote Schedule: Standard business hours with participation in a shared on-call rotation

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to join an enterprise Infrastructure & Operations team supporting business-critical applications. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting scalable infrastructure while ensuring the reliability, availability, and performance of production environments.

What You’ll Do

• * Design, implement, and support scalable Azure infrastructure solutions for enterprise applications.
• * Own the day-to-day operational health of production systems, ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability.
• * Participate in a shared on-call rotation supporting infrastructure and application incidents.
• * Implement Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) best practices, including monitoring, automation, alerting, and performance optimization.
• * Proactively identify infrastructure risks, monitoring gaps, capacity concerns, and reliability issues before they impact production.
• * Utilize monitoring and observability tools, including Datadog or similar platforms, to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve performance issues.
• * Troubleshoot complex issues across networking, compute, storage, cloud infrastructure, and application environments.
• * Partner closely with Database Engineers, Release Engineers, and other infrastructure teams to support deployments and operational improvements.
• * Manage infrastructure work and operational initiatives through Azure DevOps or similar work-tracking platforms.
• * Develop automation using PowerShell, Python, or similar scripting languages to improve operational efficiency.
• * Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures.
• * Research emerging technologies and recommend improvements that enhance reliability, scalability, and overall system performance.

Required Qualifications

• * 5+ years of experience in Systems Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, or a related production support role.
• * Hands-on experience supporting Azure cloud infrastructure.
• * Experience owning production environments, including operational support and incident response.
• * Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog.
• * Experience using Azure DevOps or similar CI/CD and work management platforms.
• * Strong troubleshooting skills across networking, servers, storage, cloud infrastructure, and application environments.
• * Experience developing automation with PowerShell, Python, or similar scripting languages.
• * Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• * Ability to work independently while collaborating across multiple technical teams.
• * Willingness to participate in a shared on-call rotation.

Preferred Qualifications

• * Experience with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles.
• * Experience with caching or in-memory data platforms.
• * Experience with workload automation or enterprise job scheduling tools.
• * Background supporting enterprise or regulated environments such as financial services, insurance, or healthcare.
