Financial Analyst I

Job Posting End Date: Until Filled Shift: 1st Security Clearance: No Clearance ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND PURPOSE Responsible for preparation and analysis of various financial reports in support of NASSCO’s shipbuilding and repair operations to be submitted to senior management, parent company (General Dynamics), and external customers. Perform other financial analysis as directed by manager or supervisor. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES Prepare and analyze various financial reports, forecasts, lease vs. buy reviews, and reconciliations. Prepare and analyze annual department overhead budgets. Develop monthly overhead actual expense versus budget management reports. Perform ongoing cost analysis on all assigned contracts. Assist in the monthly contract estimates at completion analysis. Support bid development and audit requests. Maintain process documentation and desktop procedures. Evaluate existing processes for continuous improvement. Other responsibilities and duties as assigned. POSITION DEMANDS The position requires an undergraduate degree in business, preferably in finance, accounting, or economics. Strong personal computer skills are required, using Microsoft Office applications and database software such as SAP. Strong verbal and written communication skills, analysis and organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and in a team environment are critical. Some knowledge of EVMS (Earned Value Management System) principles desired, not required. Must be able to work when needed which may include holidays, weekends, overtime, and occasional travel. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to fingers, handle or feel objects or controls, and to talk and hear. The noise level in this environment is usually moderate. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS Reports to Supervisor, Financial Planning and Analysis. Coordination is required between various NASSCO departments and Government departments. Develops professional contacts with Accounting, Program Finance, Supply Chain Management, Contracts, Planning, Estimating, and ISD. Interfaces with all levels of management. ACCOUNTABILITY Employee responsible for ensuring that all reporting is prepared accurately, timely, and in accordance with specifications. Responsible for scheduling own activities and completing work product with minimal supervision while ensuring deadlines are met. Has an understanding of the overall operations and specific tasks assigned and contributes to the achievement of operational goals and objectives. PAY SCALE $64,500 - $83,600 This pay range is a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role. It takes into account the wide range of factors considered in making compensation decisions; including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, and education.
