Overview:
As a Product Engineer, you will focus on writing, designing, and testing embedded firmware for electronic controls used in commercial laundry equipment. Our products serve a global market, including laundromats, hotels, hospitals, universities, apartment complexes, fire stations, and more. This position requires onsite presence in Ripon, WI on a hybrid basis. Responsibilities:
• Provide leadership for firmware-related projects and manage large-scale outsourced firmware development projects.
• Become a subject matter expert in the microelectronic product portfolio.
• Establish firmware architecture requirements and write detailed microelectronic control design and test specifications.
• Validate functional test equipment produced by contract control manufacturers against specifications.
• Maintain model configuration information for the microelectronic product portfolio.
• Engage in cross-functional product development activities, including team meetings, feature definition sessions, pilot builds, and reviews of user manuals.
• Write engineering change notifications and detailed lab test orders for execution by lab technicians.
• Investigate firmware issues, conduct root cause analysis, and drive resolution.
• Perform firmware development and testing on simulators and products in a lab environment.
• Identify opportunities for quality and cost improvements.
• Provide production support as needed.
• Manage vendor access to licensed developer applications and development tools/equipment.
Qualifications:
• Education & Experience:
• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Electrical Engineering preferred.
• 5 years of programming experience.
• Previous project management experience is highly desirable.
• Extensive firmware development experience with coding in C; experience with coding in lua and UI designer applications, e.g., Storyboard, is a plus.
Skills and Abilities:
• Proficient technical skills required.
• Demonstrated project leadership abilities.
• Strong communication skills for effective interaction with internal and external groups.
• Experience with test-driven firmware development is a plus.
• Strong debugging, problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Self-motivated and hands-on.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
