Sr. Database Admin Remote - USC Only A strong to expert knowledge and background in the full range of administration support for Oracle and Postgres databases and MS-SQL instances and applications. Provide user problem documentation dynamically: problem definition, problem resolution and problem reporting, as user problems occur, and as supplements to weekly status reports. Recommend documentation for improvements in training, user guides and user support processes and tools. Submit progressively developed documentation on a bi-weekly basis. Complete daily database health checks as per DOGs. Verify and validate successful database backups. Provide proactive monitoring of assigned datacenter resources. Proactively support scheduled after-hours maintenance. Identify the root cause of problems, resolve database problems, develop methods for preventing recurrence of previous issues. Planning, coordination, and successful execution of the assigned RNs (FS Release Notices). Perform authorized FS work to include standing up new servers/Databases, upgrade of current databases, patch maintenance and application releases. Periodically play the role of queue manager in watching the queue for oracle team and assign the incoming tickets based on ownership and workload. Attend weekly team meetings to discuss ongoing issues and provide status on assigned items. Provide orientation to new members of the EDBA team. Help identify improvements in current infrastructure maintenance activities. Develop useful documentation for repetitive oracle tasks. Industry experience developing, deploying, and supporting database systems in mid- to large-scale enterprises. Experience in the complete project life cycle, including design, development, implementation and documentation of database management and web-based application systems deployments. Experience with a range of operating systems, with specific focus on Client Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating systems. Red Hat and/or Linux familiarity is still required for the purposes of maintaining applications and databases installed on such systems. Demonstrated ability to understand all concepts central to current enterprise systems management (ESM) strategies, including configuration management, electronic software distribution (ESD), etc. Demonstrated understanding of technical issues pertaining to enterprise scalability, economies of scale, and their impacts on total costs of ownership (TCO) in very large deployments. Demonstrated understanding of a wide variety of cloud technologies, 15 applications, and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, active directory services, Oracle, Postgres, and SQL database environments, Apache-Tomact/MS IIS web services, etc.).
