In this role, you will contribute to building full-stack applications, backend services, and automation solutions that support critical infrastructure, platform capabilities, and internal engineering systems.This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer who is passionate about software engineering, systems reliability, and building tools and platforms that operate at scale.The OpportunityAs a Software Engineer, you will work alongside experienced engineers to design, build, and improve systems that power Visa’s technology ecosystem. You will gain exposure to distributed systems, cloud platforms, automation, and modern full-stack development, while contributing to real-world solutions used across the organization.You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, platform, infrastructure, and operations to deliver solutions that improve developer productivity, system reliability, and operational efficiency.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, test, and maintain backend services, APIs, and full-stack applicationsBuild and support automation tools, platform capabilities, and internal systemsWrite clean, scalable, and maintainable code following engineering best practices (testing, code reviews, CI/CD)Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements and deliver high-quality solutionsContribute to systems that improve reliability, performance, and operational efficiencyParticipate in design discussions and contribute to decisions around architecture, scalability, and system behaviorTroubleshoot application and system issues, perform root cause analysis, and support resolution of production incidentsSupport development of cloud-native and distributed systemsDocument technical designs, implementation details, and system behaviorContinuously improve engineering quality, system observability, and operational excellence Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.QualificationsBasic Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree, OR 3+ years of relevant work experience.Experience in analysis, design, and programming of computer applications.Experience in debugging and modifying software programs.Experience in writing and maintaining technical documentation.Experience in performing software testing and troubleshooting.Experience in collaborating with users or stakeholders to gather requirements.Experience in developing or supporting installation and maintenance procedures.Preferred Qualifications: 1-2 years of relevant work experience.Experience or coursework in full-stack development, backend services, or systems programmingFamiliarity with modern frontend technologies (JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Angular, HTML, CSS)Experience building backend services or APIs using technologies such as Java, Python, Node.js, Spring Boot, or similar frameworksExposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and an understanding of cloud-native conceptsFamiliarity with automation, infrastructure, or platform engineering conceptsExposure to CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), containerization, or developer toolingBasic understanding of system reliability, monitoring, and debugging in distributed systemsStrong problem-solving skills and ability to learn new technologies quicklyStrong written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate across teamsInformation for US ApplicantsVisa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.Work HoursVaries upon the needs of the department.Travel RequirementsThis position requires travel 5-10% of the time.Mental/Physical RequirementsThis position will be performed in an office setting.
