Research Technician - Poultry Science

Job Summary Research Technician – Poultry Science at the North Carolina State University Feed Mill Educational Unit (FMEU). The Technician will manufacture feed in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs), operate computerized automation systems, assist with equipment maintenance, and ensure compliance with university, local, state, and federal regulations. Key Responsibilities Feed Manufacturing: Operate and assist with the operation of feed manufacturing equipment. Equipment Maintenance: Help maintain and repair equipment, ensuring all machinery is in good working order. Quality Assurance: Perform quality checks on feed and ingredients to ensure compliance with established standards. Housekeeping & Documentation: Maintain a clean and safe work environment; collect and complete operational documentation in line with SOPs and regulatory requirements. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to all university, local, state, and federal regulations and policies. Student & Vendor Management: Coordinate daily activities, direct student employees, and work with external vendors. Qualifications Minimum Experience/Education: Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Experience with machinery operation and maintenance. Working knowledge of feed manufacturing, data collection, and/or analysis procedures. Experience with reporting related to federal and/or state agency compliance. Experience with data collection and input. Required License or Certification A valid driver’s license is required for travel. A North Carolina driver’s license must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
