Systems Engineer (Modeling & Simulation) - Intern

Position Overview Lockheed Martin Rotary & Mission Systems is seeking a full‑time Intern Systems Engineer who will participate in the design, development, integration, and testing of new capabilities for several Department of Defense products and technologies. The role involves working with real‑world models of weapons, radars, and command‑control systems, identifying and addressing system and software defects, and applying sound engineering practice to decompose complex problems into actionable solutions. Responsibilities Participate in design, development, integration, and testing of DoD products and technologies. Use and contribute to models of real‑world weapons, radars, and command‑control systems. Independently identify and address system and software defects. Apply systems and software engineering discipline to decompose complex problems and formulate solutions. Basic Qualifications Pursuing a BS degree in Mathematics, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or an equivalent STEM field. Basic knowledge of root‑cause analysis, problem‑solving skills, and statistical analysis. Basic knowledge of scripting languages such as Python and/or MATLAB. Basic written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work in a collaborative, team‑based environment. Desired Skills Basic knowledge of Agile development processes. Basic knowledge of static and dynamic systems. Basic knowledge of statistics, Monte Carlo analysis, and distributed simulation techniques. Basic knowledge of data science principles. Security Clearance Must be a U.S. citizen and a candidate for a Secret security clearance. The position is located at a facility that requires special access. Location & Work Schedule Onsite full‑time at a Lockheed Martin facility. Schedule: 4×10‑hour days with 3 days off per week. Pay Range $44,491 – $78,769 annually (California, Massachusetts, New York, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington, Washington DC).
