Phlebotomist - per diem

Description Phlebotomist is responsible for clinical laboratory duties, including reception and telephone duties, proficient operation of laboratory equipment including HIS/LIS systems; specimen handling: receiving and processing; prep and shipping of lab specimens for reference laboratories; specimen/patient registration; phlebotomy - collection of blood samples by venipuncture or capillary stick; therapeutic blood collection; swab collection of specific micro samples (per competency); assignment to OP Lab locations; training new staff as assigned. Additional Site Responsibilities If assigned to a site where offered: dispatch functions, EKG performance, collection of DOT and non-DOT drug screens, for cause drug screens (HR), and breath alcohol testing (BAT); clinic relief fill-in. Communication Requirements Respectful and patient communications (written and verbal) with patients, clients, other lab staff, and caregivers from other departments. Required Qualifications Washington Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certification upon hire. Six (6) months direct experience as a phlebotomist and/or completion of a Phlebotomy program. Preferred Qualifications Coursework/Training: Medical Assistant or Phlebotomy training program/course approved by WA State.
