Development Engineer

Development Engineer Hybrid/Onsite in office 3 days/week. Working location: Indianapolis, IN or Savannah, GA. Job Overview As a Development Engineer at Rolls‑Royce, you will play a key role in coordinating a cross‑functional product team designing, testing, and certifying the products. This role also supports customer engagements, program management of engineering projects, and installed verification testing. Responsibilities Ensure project risks (technical, cost, supply chain, and timescale) are identified, managed (including integration of risk activities in project plan), and escalated per risk management plan. Integrate IPT work with all relevant higher‑level plans – including Project Management Plan and Risk Management Plan. Manage and deliver necessary compliance documents, from requirements capture to evidence of compliance using appropriate software/tools. Plan, manage, and develop engine/sub‑system certification/qualification plans and participate in product introduction gated reviews, allocating requirements to major sub‑systems. Translate experiment/test requirements into test plans, budgets, schedules, and test instructions. Communicate risks and opportunities to program leadership to support decision‑making. Lead integration activities between project teams and test to ensure instrumentation, controls, data acquisition, test limits, and test data recording are completed. Support on‑site and off‑site development engine/sub‑system build and test activities. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with 2+ years’ experience, Master’s degree in Engineering, or JD/PhD in Engineering. Eligible to obtain and maintain security clearance; USA Citizenship required. 4+ years of experience in technical project management or development engineering. Experience interfacing with customers on technical program issues. Gas turbine systems engine test, installation, verification, and performance experience. Experience with Rolls‑Royce Indianapolis EVMS systems and Microsoft Project. Experience managing and interpreting requirements, and developing test plans. Leadership experience with a cross‑discipline, cross‑functional development team. Experience with product configuration control, quality systems, trouble reporting and root cause/corrective action. Experience in engine performance and operation or system design/control and powerplant integration. Experience with structured verification.
