Registered Nurse - Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)

Assignment Duration: This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule: Night shift: 3x12-Hour (18:45 - 07:15)

Job Description: The Registered Nurse in the CVICU will provide high-quality care to patients with cardiac and neurological conditions. The unit is a mixed ICU that serves both specialties, requiring expertise in both areas, particularly post-cardiac surgery care. The RN will appropriately manage patients with multi-system organ dysfunction and failure, utilizing advanced monitoring and therapeutic techniques.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret cardiovascular hemodynamics.
• Manage and administer medications and IV drips as prescribed.
• Care for ventilated patients and provide additional respiratory support as needed.
• Perform assessments and document patient conditions using the EPIC charting system.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient care and outcomes.
• Educate patients and families regarding care plans and health management strategies.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 18 months of ICU experience required; 2 years preferred.
• Must have experience caring for cardiac and neurological patients.
• AHA BLS & ACLS certifications are required at the time of submittal.
• NIHSS certification must be obtained prior to start.
• Epic experience required at a proficiency level of 3 or 4.
• Must be nicotine-free as this is a smoke-free facility.
