Job Description
Registered Nurse (RN) - Oncology

This role involves providing exceptional patient care in an outpatient oncology setting. The registered nurse will play a key role in administering infusions and managing various treatment protocols for patients requiring frequent medication infusions.

Shift Details

• Shifts may vary between 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM, and 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
• No weekend or on-call requirements.

Job Responsibilities

• Administer intravenous (IV) medications including antibiotics, antifungals, steroids, and specialty treatments.
• Manage blood and blood product transfusions.
• Perform maintenance on central venous access devices and place peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC lines).
• Provide IV immune globulin therapy, hydration therapy, and care for implanted infusion pumps.
• Educate patients on self-administration of medications and conduct therapeutic phlebotomies.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of current experience in outpatient oncology and infusion is required.
• Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy Certification and Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification are required.
• Experience with peripheral IV insertion and managing ports, fistulas, or catheters is required.
• IV certification is highly preferred.
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system is required.
• Previous travel nurse experience is preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.

Training Requirements

As of January 1, 2024, all new and returning staff must have completed de-escalation training from an approved provider prior to onboarding.

Other Requirements

• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Personal scrubs of any color without designs or cartoons are acceptable. Hoodies are not permitted.
• All required certifications and licenses must be current and provided during the application process.
