If you're driven by purpose and ready to bring your best to work that truly matters for patients, we invite you to join us.HEOR Methods This role provides methodological leadership across the full span of HEOR evidence generation, including comparative effectiveness and pharmacoepidemiologic methods, systematic literature review and meta-analytic techniques (network meta-analysis and indirect treatment comparison), health technology assessment methodology, and cost-effectiveness and economic modeling. The successful candidate will have deep expertise in causal inference methods for observational data (target trial emulation, active-comparator new-user design, marginal structural models), quantitative synthesis methods for building comparative evidence in the absence of head-to-head trials, and the construction and critique of decision-analytic models (Markov, discrete event simulation, budget impact) used to support payer and HTA submissions. This person functions as the internal scientific authority ensuring that evidence generation, from observational study design through economic modeling, meets the rigor required for regulatory engagement, HTA body review, and payer value communication, while partnering closely with biostatistics, epidemiology, global market access, and external academic and consulting collaborators.Candidates should bring a strong publication record spanning comparative effectiveness, meta-analytic, or health economic methods, direct experience building or critiquing cost-effectiveness models and HTA dossiers (NICE, ICER, or comparable bodies), and the judgment to identify where methodological choices in any of these domains create downstream regulatory, payer, or scientific risk.Position Summary:The demand for high-quality health economic and outcomes research (HEOR) and real-world evidence (RWE) to support drug development, health technology assessment/access decisions, product differentiation, and clinical decision making continues to grow. The purpose of the Lilly Health Economic and Outcome Research team is to accelerate equitable patient access and transform healthcare delivery through the execution and communication of bold, high impact science.HEOR provides strategic insight/leadership into the health outcomes (HO) evidence needs (e.g., health economics, patient reported outcomes, real world evidence, access and reimbursement) for Lilly’s portfolio. As an HEOR technical lead within the cardiometabolic health (CMH) business unit, this individual partners to develop the real-world evidence, patient-reported outcome, and economic value strategy across the therapeutic area and leads, manages, and develops a team of HEOR scientists. The scientist will use their knowledge of HO disciplines, therapeutic area knowledge of disease states in the Lilly portfolio, understanding of drug development and commercialization, and geographic market knowledge in the role. Research project ownership and execution is required. The scientist may have duties ranging from developing and articulating product value propositions, patient reported outcomes strategies, real world evidence generation, and differentiation strategies using HO research depending on the individual assignment.Responsibilities:StrategyDrives sustained integration of HEOR from early clinical development through commercialization depending on focus of role.Develops and oversees HO research strategy for compounds in the Lilly portfolio in the relevant therapeutic area(s).Serves as the senior HEOR strategic partner on lead/core teams throughout development and/or commercializationFormulates and drives Patient Focused Outcome (PFO), Real World Evidence, and/or economic value strategies for priority products and geographies.Establishes consistent yet agile HEOR standards across the CMH portfolio, enabling evidence generation to scale as the pipeline evolves.Study Development and ExecutionDevelops bold high impact science for products across the lifecycle, to influence and support evidence needs for Lilly products in support of improving patient outcomes.Applies technical expertise appropriate for the role (e.g., scope or depth in statistical analysis, economic modeling, clinical trials, PFO development, observational/ epidemiologic research, and health technology or other value assessment) within a therapeutic area.Applies disease state knowledge and research methods to solve HO issues associated with registration, pricing, reimbursement, and access initiativesOrganizational Leadership and InfluenceProvide guidance and mentorship to junior scientists and colleagues in HEOR methodologies and best practices.Communicates technical expertise with business acumen in a simple, succinct way.Leads HO evidence planning and implementation in collaboration with cross-functional teams across the development and commercialization lifecycle.Integrates and influences key business partners around HEOR prioritization, trade-offs, and recommendations to achieve strategic goals.Provides consultation, input, and strategic direction about how to leverage HEOR to the enterpriseTriages business partners’ requests with excellent prioritization and timeliness.People Leadership and Team DevelopmentLeads, manages, coaches, and develops a team of HEOR scientists — setting direction and priorities, managing performance, and building individual capability and career growth.Allocates talent and resources across the CMH portfolio, matching team capacity to the highest-value evidence priorities.Builds an inclusive, high-accountability team culture and models the Team Lilly leadership expectations (Include, Innovate, Accelerate, Deliver).Information DisseminationEffectively communicates HO information to internal business partners, the scientific community, and customers.Drives research dissemination strategies and leads research communication efforts including abstracts, posters, podium presentations, promotional materials, and manuscripts.Plan for, align, and drive application of results/deliverables to increase the impact of HO workEnvironmental AwarenessMaintains awareness of significant developments in disease states in the Lilly portfolio and HO field including current HO methodologies and applications and other issues as appropriate for the position.Anticipates and evaluates future market needs and trends for HO information within pertinent therapeutic area and geography of interest, including planning HEOR capacity and strategy for an expanding CMH pipelineMonitors and influences internal and external environmental factors that shape and impact generation and use of HO research.Project Management Ensures HO projects meet timelines, budget, and scope by coordinating research efforts with cross-functional Lilly business partners and external collaborators as appropriate.Basic Requirements:Doctorate (PhD, MD) with 7+ years OR PharmD/MS degree with 7+years of experience in creating, executing, and delivering HO strategies/projects.Additional Preferences:Strong comprehension and communication skills including the ability to translate and disseminate complex scientific information in a clear and concise mannerExcellent written and verbal communication skillsDemonstrated ability to influence and collaborate within and across teamsDemonstrated experience setting and leading HEOR strategy across a portfolio or therapeutic areaDemonstrated people-leadership experience: formally managing, developing and leading scientists (this role includes direct reports).Proven ability to influence senior internal and external decision-makersDemonstrated ability to drive research agendas to completion and dissemination.Ability to think and act globally with a customer focus and a solution orientation.Additional Information:Travel: 10–25% domestic and international.Full-time positionLocations: Lilly Corporate Center, Indianapolis IN.
