Shipping and Receiving WorkerThis role supports a local Indianapolis manufacturer by handling all aspects of shipping and receiving on first shift. You will receive and process incoming materials, prepare and stage outgoing shipments, and help maintain accurate inventory in a clean, organized job shop environment.ResponsibilitiesReceive, unload, and process incoming shipments in a timely and accurate manner.Build pallets securely and efficiently for outgoing shipments.Store received materials in proper, designated locations to maintain organization and traceability.Pick and pack (kitting) orders accurately and efficiently for use in other departments, primarily the welding and fabrication department.Prepare, stage, and organize products for shipment according to schedule and shipping requirements.Conduct regular cycle counts and full inventory counts, and reconcile any variances found.Maintain cleanliness and organization of inventory storage areas and dock areas.Operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks and sit-down forklifts to move materials safely.Load and unload trucks while following safe material handling practices.Use tablets and RF scanners to perform inventory transactions and track materials.Work with bills of materials (BOM) to ensure correct parts and quantities are picked and kitted.Handle general material handling tasks to support warehouse and production operations.Support warehouse inventory control by monitoring stock levels and reporting issues promptly.Essential SkillsExperience in shipping and receiving operations in a warehouse, manufacturing, or job shop environment.Proficiency operating pallet jacks and sit-down forklifts for material handling.Ability to perform accurate cycle counts and inventory checks.Experience using RF scanners and tablets for inventory tracking and data entry.Ability to read and work from bills of materials (BOM) when kitting and staging materials.Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate picking, packing, and storage of materials.Capability to safely load and unload trucks and move materials within the facility.Basic computer skills to support inventory and staging activities.Ability to stage materials and products efficiently for production and shipping.Physical ability to perform material handling tasks, including lifting, moving, and organizing products.Additional Skills & QualificationsPrior experience as a material handler in a manufacturing or warehouse setting.Experience in kitting and supporting weld or fabrication departments.Familiarity with warehouse inventory control processes and best practices.Comfort working with small job shop workflows and flexible task assignments.Why Work Here?You will join a small, clean, and growing job shop in the Indianapolis area, offering the stability of an established operation combined with the momentum of recent growth. Work is performed on first shift in a warehouse and production support setting. You will regularly use pallet jacks, sit-down forklifts, RF scanners, tablets, and standard warehouse equipment to move and track materials. The facility emphasizes organization and cleanliness in inventory and dock areas. Work involves loading and unloading trucks, staging materials for weld and fabrication departments, and moving products throughout the shop.Job Type & Location: This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN.Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
