Job Full Description

Are you an experienced food service professional who takes pride in preparing quality meals and creating a clean, safe kitchen environment? We are looking for a Cook to join the kitchen team at a behavioral healthcare facility and help ensure residents receive nutritious, appetizing meals in a safe and supportive environment.

Schedule


7:00 AM - 6:00 PM
3 days per week


The Cook will work three days per week, with shifts scheduled between Sunday and Saturday. You will coordinate your schedule with the current kitchen staff member to determine which days each person will work.

What You'll Do


• Plan and prepare meals to meet residents' dietary needs while maintaining quality and presentation standards
• Wash, cut, prepare, cook, and serve food
• Operate commercial cooking equipment including grills, deep fryers, and griddles
• Prepare and serve beverages such as coffee and fountain drinks
• Monitor food temperatures and properly store and rotate food inventory
• Receive food deliveries and verify products for accuracy and quality
• Date, stock, and rotate newly delivered food to minimize waste
• Track food and supply usage for inventory purposes
• Verify prepared food meets required quality and quantity standards
• Maintain clean food preparation areas, cooking surfaces, utensils, and equipment
• Follow sanitation, health, and safety standards
• Assist with food inventory and requisitioning of products
• Provide coverage for the other Cook as needed
• Maintain confidentiality of resident information and records
• Follow all applicable company policies, OSHA, HIPAA, and other required regulations

What We're Looking For


Required:
• Valid Food Handler's Certification
• Ability to successfully complete a background check
• Tuberculosis screening
• Ability to work independently and as part of a kitchen team
• Strong time management and organizational skills
• Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and remain calm and professional under pressure


Preferred:
• 1-3 years of food service or commercial kitchen experience

Physical Requirements


• Ability to stand and walk frequently throughout the shift
• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and perform repetitive hand movements
• Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
• Ability to push and pull objects

Work Environment


This position works in a healthcare setting where maintaining sanitation, safety, and confidentiality is essential. The environment may be moderately busy and may involve exposure to airborne pathogens. Evening and weekend availability may be required.
