Mortgage and Consumer Loan Servicing Manager

We are seeking a Servicing Manager to join our Secondary Market team in Durham! The Secondary Market Servicing Manager plays a critical role in the organization’s secondary market program, focusing on the servicing and default servicing strategies for the Secondary Market loan portfolio. The Servicing Manager is a member of the secondary market management team and is responsible for managing and directing all aspects of the secondary market servicing functions, loss mitigation, and default servicing strategies and processes. This includes continually assessing risk, providing recommendations for improvement, and developing loss mitigation strategies to maximize retention. The role also involves managing sub‑servicer and vendor relationships while staying abreast of industry trends and regulatory changes.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Manage the Servicing functions within the secondary market team, including servicing, loss mitigation, and default management of purchased portfolios comprising mortgage and consumer loans. Monitor trends to identify and mitigate potential risks. Manage servicer quality assurance reviews and remediation plans. Ensure servicing compliance and best practices by monitoring industry standards. Manage sub‑servicer, vendor, and GSE relationships. Hire, coach, develop, and assess staff. Actively contribute to setting team strategy, identifying operational impacts, and guiding the overall team to achieve established goals. Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience. 7 years of experience in collections, default servicing, loss mitigation, consumer servicing, or mortgage servicing. Excellent leadership skills with a proven ability to lead, motivate, supervise employees, and operate as a hands‑on working manager. Strong commitment to our mission of creating economic opportunities for underserved communities. Deep knowledge of the consumer and mortgage industries, lending principles, and products; ability to build productive relationships across the organization and with servicing and vendor partners nationwide. Ability to collaborate with management to create a secondary market leadership vision and strategize its implementation. Preference for teamwork and collaboration. Attention to detail and strong problem‑solving skills. Ability to hire, develop, and supervise staff. Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to present information effectively.
