Senior Claims Specialist, Primary Claims

Senior Claims Specialist – Primary Casualty (Job Code 13574) Work location: United States of America (Exempt for FLSA). Requires an office presence of three days per week and adherence to AXIS licensing requirements. About the Team AXIS is hiring a Senior Claims Specialist – Primary Casualty for its North America Claim Team. This role involves managing primary claims for AXIS U.S. Primary Casualty policies, investigating, analyzing, and evaluating coverage for complex liability third‑party primary casualty claims. Responsibilities Evaluating complex claims to determine appropriate settlement strategies and ensure adherence to company policies. Ensuring timely evaluation, reserving and disposition of assigned claims. Mentoring junior claims adjusters, providing guidance and support to enhance their professional development. Utilizing a working knowledge of the legal frameworks and claims handling practices relevant to the jurisdictions in which the claims arise, including Construction and New York Labor Law. Documenting coverage, investigation, damages, reserve rationale, negotiations, and associated claim details. Reviewing contracts for risk transfer evaluations, coverage analysis and tender review. Investigating potentially fraudulent claims and taking appropriate action. Identifying opportunities for contribution, subrogation and contribution to the claim. Qualifications Demonstrate expertise in evaluating and resolving complex claims within various jurisdictions. Ability to mentor and develop the professional skills of junior adjusters. Prior experience handling New York Labor Law, Product Liability and Complex litigation claims. Experience in drafting coverage correspondence, writing coverage letters and responding to or issuing tenders. Skilled in negotiating settlements with various stakeholders to achieve equitable solutions. Ability to recommend and justify the use of outside counsel in complex claims situations. Adept at networking and building relationships within professional and market associations. Track record of adhering to and enforcing company policies and procedures in claims processing. Benefits & Compensation Base salary range: $105,000 – $160,000, with adjustments based on experience and location.
