The Repair Maintenance Technician sets up, maintains, tests, adjusts, and supports manufacturing machinery and related processes, including dies and molds. This role focuses on high-precision preventative maintenance and troubleshooting across a wide range of tooling and production equipment to ensure reliable, efficient, and safe operations on the manufacturing floor.
Responsibilities

• Set up, maintain, test, adjust, and support manufacturing machinery and associated processes, including dies and molds.
• Perform preventative maintenance on production equipment and address problematic manufacturing issues before they impact operations.
• Troubleshoot a wide spectrum of tooling and production equipment, including both mechanical and electrical systems.
• Read and interpret product blueprints and technical drawings to guide setup, repair, and adjustments.
• Work with extremely tight tolerances, including tolerances within 0.0001 inches, ensuring a high level of precision in all tasks.
• Use a variety of precision measuring devices, such as depth micrometers, step micrometers, and dial indicators, to verify accuracy of components and setups.
• Operate and adjust equipment such as surface grinders to meet exact specifications and quality standards.
• Perform basic machinist tasks, general die mechanics, bench work, and soldering as needed to support tooling and equipment performance.
• Build and wire panels, assemble electrical control panels, and follow wiring schematics where required.
• Support PLC-related activities by assisting with PLC troubleshooting and collaborating on programming adjustments as needed.
• Conduct preventive maintenance (PM) and troubleshooting on mechanical and electrical systems to minimize downtime.
• Use MS Office applications, including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook, for documentation, reporting, and communication.
• Handle multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize work effectively, and operate with a high degree of independence.
• Adhere strictly to department safety rules and regulations, including the proper use of protective gear and safe handling of hazardous materials and chemicals.
• Work safely in environments with noise and other atmospheric conditions, wearing required protective equipment such as safety glasses and other gear.
• Meet physical requirements of the role, including sitting or standing for at least 90 consecutive minutes and lifting up to 50 pounds from floor to waist.
• Participate in and apply CPR, First Aid, and AED training to support a safe workplace.
• Train on day shift for an initial period before transitioning to 3rd shift, ensuring full familiarity with equipment, processes, and safety procedures.

Essential Skills

• 35 years of experience in a technical or manufacturing environment.
• Proven experience working as a maintenance or equipment technician in a production setting.
• Strong ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues on manufacturing machinery and process equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret product blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
• Demonstrated experience working with tight tolerances, including tolerances within 0.0001 inches.
• Proficiency in using precision measuring devices such as depth micrometers, step micrometers, and dial indicators.
• Basic machinist skills, including operating equipment such as surface grinders.
• Mechanical and electrical experience supporting production equipment and tooling.
• Ability to build and wire panels and work with electrical control panels, wiring, and schematics.
• Experience with preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on mechanical and electrical systems.
• Correctable vision to 20/40.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Capability to sit or stand for at least 90 consecutive minutes and lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist.
• Commitment to following safety rules and regulations, including the use of protective equipment in environments with noise and hazardous materials.
• CPR, First Aid, and AED training.
• Familiarity with MS Office applications, including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with electrical systems, including proximity sensors, servo motors, production cameras, and PLCs.
• Ability to assist with programming and troubleshooting PLCs.
• Tool and machine background, including general die mechanics, bench work, and soldering.
• Panel building experience, including electrical wiring and assembly of control panels.
• Experience as a PLC technician or in PLC troubleshooting is beneficial.
• Exposure to maintenance technician responsibilities, including PM maintenance and troubleshooting.
• 2-year or 4-year degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred.
• Tool & Die or Electrical Journeyman certification is a plus.
• Experience can supplement or replace formal educational requirements where appropriate.

Work Environment
This role is primarily on 3rd shift, Sunday through Thursday, providing a consistent overnight schedule. New hires train on day shift for approximately 90 days to 6 months, typically from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., to become fully familiar with equipment, processes, and safety protocols. The facility is extremely clean, modern, and well-organized, with a sleek layout and an exceptional break room that offers a comfortable space during downtime. The work environment includes exposure to noise and hazardous materials or chemicals, and employees wear appropriate protective gear such as safety glasses and other safety equipment in accordance with department safety rules. The setting is designed to support high-precision manufacturing, using advanced machinery and measuring devices, while maintaining a professional and well-maintained workspace.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Scottsburg, IN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $75000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
