Position Summary We are seeking a driven and strategic Director of Business Development to drive commercial sales for our AI Products Business unit, focusing on multi‑modal AI and technology portfolio solutions. The Director will identify and pursue new business opportunities, develop and maintain a robust pipeline of prospects and potential customers, and own accounts from lead generation and qualification to proposal writing and deal closure. Key Responsibilities Drive New Business: Identify and secure new commercial opportunities with Life Sciences partners for Tempus’s AI Products business unit, focusing on our AI and technology portfolio solutions in imaging and genomics, including digital pathology. Client outreach and delivery of tailored materials, client pitches, proposal / SOW writing, and contract negotiations. Consultative, Value‑Based Selling: Articulate a compelling "Why Tempus?" narrative, focusing on partners’ business pain and quantifying transformational impact. Strategic Account Planning: Become an expert in the partner’s strategy, pipeline and portfolio to proactively identify opportunities where our solutions can be leveraged. Relationship Management: Build and maintain relationships with key executives, strategy and innovation leads, clinical development heads, and program and asset teams. Rigorous Deal Qualification and Sales Execution: Qualify opportunities with a focus on high probability, engage Economic Buyers early, build champions, and understand the decision and contracting process. Team‑Based Selling: Collaborate with internal teams (Product, Engineering, AI Scientists, Medical) to present tailored solutions and secure technical buy‑in and smooth contract execution. Pipeline Management: Build and manage a robust sales pipeline in SFDC, provide accurate forecasting, and consistently meet or exceed revenue targets. Qualifications & Experience Required: 5+ years of demonstrated success in a business development or enterprise sales role within Life Sciences, biopharma, or health‑tech industries. Background or strong knowledge of oncology, science, or medical fields. Deep understanding of pharmaceutical R&D and commercialization lifecycle. Kind, collaborative, and agile teammate with a desire to solve meaningful problems in digital pathology, oncology, and biopharma. Proven track record of exceeding annual sales targets and closing complex, multi‑year partnerships, service or platform deals. Established credibility and trusted relationships with clients. Outstanding communication and presentation skills for scientific and executive‑level audiences. Proactive problem solver with strong prioritization, execution, and critical thinking skills. Preferred: Existing relationships within top 20 pharmaceutical companies. Experience working in Digital Pathology and/or modern AI fields (e.g., Foundation Models, AI development). Benefits and Compensation Remote salary range: $150,000–$200,000 (applicable to New York; may vary for other locations).
