Store Manager

Job Summary As an Empowered Leader, the Store Leader‑Hourly works independently to directly influence the performance of everyone who interacts with guests and supports the store environment. The role uses GameStop’s Buy‑Sell‑Trade Model, The Circle of Life, and Solution Selling techniques to ensure world‑class guest service experiences for all GameStop guests. Responsibilities Active Selling: Explore and create guest needs, close sales, and demonstrate a passion for exceeding goals. World‑Class Guest Service: Promptly greet guests, respond to concerns quickly and courteously, align guest needs with GameStop products, recommend additional items, and ensure every guest is thanked for shopping. Solution Selling: Use Solution Selling techniques to align needs with GameStop products, recommend complementary items, and build loyalty through complete guest solutions. Team Support: Recruit, hire, assess, develop, and retain associates; provide timely feedback; conduct coaching discussions and annual appraisals; lead associates to meet sales, profit, and shrink goals; ensure a supervisor is present on the sales floor. Operational Agility: Schedule associates for optimum service levels, delegate tasks, maintain a clean and organized store, control inventory and loss prevention, balance daily transactions, manage merchandising activity, and report shortages or discrepancies to district and regional leaders. Military Store (if applicable): Ensure affirmative action program compliance, form professional partnerships with military personnel, and adhere to military-specific requirements. Qualifications Basic Requirements: Age 18+ with state‑required proof of age. High school diploma or GED required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred. Three or more years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience required; at least one year of retail management experience preferred. Physical ability to work up to 12 hours per day, lift up to 20 lbs., bend, stoop, reach, and climb ladders. Occasional travel ( Preferred Qualifications (Job Skills & Abilities): Proficient guest service skills and effective communication in spoken and written English; bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Leadership in a fast‑paced, rapidly changing environment with multiple overlapping priorities. Proficiency with point‑of‑sale computer systems and paperwork completion. Basic math skills; working knowledge of alphabetizing. Ability to learn military ranks and insignia if working in a military store. Self‑motivation and teamwork to complete tasks on time. Problem‑solving skills and judgment. Ability to deliver bank deposits following loss prevention guidelines. Willingness to work extended hours/days, including Sundays, and remain effective under pressure. Consistent adherence to GameStop policies, including attendance, confidentiality, conflict of interest, affirmative action, and ethical responsibilities.
