This role offers hands-on work in several areas of civil engineering through a structured 12-month training program. DESCRIPTION OF WORK This position provides training and experience in several areas of civil engineering through assignments in design, construction, and maintenance. The work helps you build technical knowledge while supporting transportation projects across the region. As a Civil Engineer Trainee, you will perform the following duties: Field Support: Assist with gathering data, performing traffic studies, and helping with construction inspections Engineering Studies: Contribute to basic engineering reviews and prepare materials for highway and bridge design Software Skills: Gain experience using standard engineering tools needed for technical work Rotational Learning: Take part in assignments across design, construction, and maintenance divisions Professional Growth: Develop your knowledge by working with staff across several engineering disciplines Interested in learning more? Work hours are 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. Salary: Most selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $67,658.00 (before taxes). REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year of civil engineering experience and a valid Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or A bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related field that includes or is supplemented by major coursework in civil engineering. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within ten months of graduating with a qualifying degree. Conditions of Employment: This position also requires possession of a valid driver's license which is not under suspension. Other Requirements: PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
