Clinical Coordinator III (RN) - HHT

Grade 105 Job Type: Officer of Administration Regular/Temporary: Regular Hours Per Week: 35 Salary Range: $112,000 - $125,000 The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary The Nurse Coordinator will provide clinical, care coordination, patient outreach, and research support for the Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT) Center of Excellence at Columbia University Irving Medical Center/NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. This position is responsible for delivering patient-centered nursing care, triaging patients remotely, coordinating diagnostic testing and specialty consultations, and serving as a key liaison among patients, providers, and multidisciplinary care teams. The Nurse Coordinator will also support clinical research activities, including patient screening, enrollment, monitoring, data management, and regulatory compliance. The incumbent will work closely with the HHT Program Medical Directors, physicians, advanced practice providers, research personnel, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care and research excellence. Responsibilities Coordinate care across a multidisciplinary team of providers and healthcare professionals. Provide nursing support to patients, assist physicians with procedures, and educate patients and families regarding HHT and treatment plans. Maintain a safe, therapeutic, and patient-centered care environment. Collaborate with physicians and other providers to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care, including patients under cross-coverage arrangements. Respond to and manage patient communications, including Telemed and front desk messages, within established timeframes. Review diagnostic test results and implement appropriate follow-up actions for abnormal findings. Communicate test results and care recommendations to patients and families. Provide technical guidance and support regarding authorizations for tests and treatments associated with patient care. Document all patient encounters and communications accurately in Epic. Develop and participate in educational initiatives for patients and families related to HHT management and care. Apply nursing knowledge related to medications, procedures, infection prevention, and safety practices; initiate appropriate interventions during urgent or emergent situations. Assist with obtaining prior authorizations for prescribed medications, procedures, and diagnostic testing. Support clinical research activities, including patient screening, enrollment, follow-up, and study management. Report unanticipated problems, protocol deviations, and eligibility-related waivers to the Institutional Review Board (IRB) through RASCAL, as required. Collaborate with research staff to provide patient and study data necessary for annual renewals and regulatory submissions, including adverse event (AE), serious adverse event (SAE), and protocol deviation reporting. Ensure timely and accurate entry of data into electronic research databases. Maintain study-related forms, checklists, tracking tools, spreadsheets, and databases. Assist with eligibility review, enrollment, monitoring, and study-related activities for multi-center investigator-initiated trials (IITs). For studies in which the Center serves as the IND holder, collaborate with the Clinical Trials Manager to support site audits and monitoring activities under the direction of the Principal Investigator. Coordinate travel and logistics for Investigator Meetings and other research-related events, as needed. Provide administrative support and cross-coverage for nursing staff during absences. Participate in HHT coordinator meetings, conferences, educational programs, and outreach events. Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus four years of nursing experience Current New York State RN license and BLS Certification Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated commitment to providing exceptional patient service. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare professionals. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience as a Nurse Coordinator or in an ambulatory specialty practice. Experience supporting clinical research studies and regulatory compliance activities. Knowledge of Epic electronic medical record systems. Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and medical billing/coding practices.
