Personal Financial Counselor - Puerto Rico, Fort Buchanan

Provide personal financial services at assigned military installations. Primary responsibilities include the full breadth of personal financial counseling services to military service members and their families. Responsibilities Provide one‑on‑one financial counseling. Consult with commanders or other staff as needed. Conduct briefings and presentations. Provide referral resources outside the counseling session. Work closely with installation and military branch points of contact to ensure program scope and alignment with installation needs. Assist service members in establishing spending plans for extended absences. Develop and make available informational financial materials. Coordinate, publicize, and offer Personal Financial Management classes/workshops covering the military lifecycle (arrival, pre‑deployment, post‑deployment, career events). Respond to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars. Utilize virtual counseling or other electronic communication modes (web‑based chat, video teleconference) as authorized by the OSD FINRED Program office. Manage duty‑to‑warn situations in accordance with DoD protocol. Communicate with leadership and participate in regular individual and group supervision, sharing trends and issues. Participate in regular in‑services, training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities as assigned. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum of a bachelor’s degree; an associate degree with 4 years of experience or a high school diploma with 6 years of experience may also be considered. At least 3 years of financial counseling experience. U.S. citizenship and fluent in English (bilingual in Spanish if required by the contract). Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier2 security investigation. Successful completion of the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process. Certification as an Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC). Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Compensation & Benefits Salary Range: Minimum $58,440 – Maximum $93,500. The position may be eligible for short‑term incentives and a comprehensive benefits package.
