About the Position
Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Neuro ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Neuro Intensive Care Unit License: RN License required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS preferred Must-Have: Candidate must successfully pass the EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with a minimum overall score of 80% and a score of 100% on lethal rhythms. Pending license accepted but must have license in hand prior to start date. First-time travelers accepted. Description: This position involves working in the Neuro ICU. The shift is 3x12 hours during the night. The patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:2. Local candidates are accepted. Candidates must float within units of equivalent or lower level of acuity. Charting will be done using an electronic system. Two supervisory references are required, including one from the most recent assignment. Experience within the last 7 years is required. Requested Time Off (RTO) must be included at the time of submittal and cannot be changed. No RTO is permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment. Skills required include: - Arterial line management - BiPAP/CPAP management - Blood product administration - Care of ventilated patients - Central line care/management - Continuous IV sedation - Titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips - Ventilator management - Assist with chest tube insertion/removal - Infection prevention - Lumbar drains management - 12 lead EKG/ECG interpretation - Phlebotomy The unit provides interdisciplinary support, including physical therapy and respiratory services. Patients may include those with brain tumors, ischemic strokes, hemorrhagic strokes, and various neuromuscular disorders. Special procedures performed in the unit include EEG monitoring and organ donation management. Candidates in this specialty must pass the EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam. Completion of facility-specific modules is required after hiring. Candidates should plan ahead to avoid conflicts with personal schedules.
