Cash Application & Collections Specialist

This role plays a direct part in driving cash flow and protecting revenue for Oil-Dri. You’ll own the application of customer payments, resolve account discrepancies, and manage collections activity across a portfolio of accounts. This is a hands‑on role where speed, accuracy, and follow‑through matter—both internally and with customers. Hybrid: Monday–Wednesday onsite (Chicago) Key Responsibilities Cash Application Apply daily customer payments (ACH, wire, lockbox, check, credit card) accurately and on time Investigate and resolve unapplied cash, short payments, and discrepancies Maintain clean, accurate AR records in JDE Support month‑end close, reconciliations, and audit requests Reduce unapplied cash and ensure timely posting of receipts Collections Manage a portfolio of accounts to keep balances current Proactively follow up on past due invoices and payment status Partner with Sales, Customer Service, and Deductions to resolve payment issues Document all activity and maintain clear records Provide updates on high‑risk accounts and aging balances Operations & Continuous Improvement Support AR reporting and month‑end close Contribute to process improvements that increase speed and accuracy Help drive working capital and Order‑to‑Cash performance What Success Looks Like Payments are applied accurately and on time, every day Unapplied cash is consistently reduced Past due balances are actively managed and declining Payment issues are resolved quickly with minimal escalation Clean, audit‑ready documentation Qualifications 4–6 years in Accounts Receivable, Cash Application, Collections, or similar Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving skills Experience with ERP systems (JD Edwards preferred) and Excel Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment Clear communicator with a customer‑facing mindset Salary: $45,000 – $57,000 ($23–$29/hour) + annual bonus 401(k) with 6% match Paid parental leave, generous PTO, paid holidays Fitness reimbursement Ongoing growth and exposure to leadership About Oil‑Dri Oil‑Dri Corporation of America is a leading manufacturer of specialty sorbent products serving consumer and B2B markets.
