Instrumental Music Teacher

This is a 0.5 FTE position. Appropriate NYS teaching certification is required. Salary starting at $26,655, commensurate with experience. Benefits as per the RTA contract.

An Instrumental Music Teacher inspires students to develop musical knowledge, technical skills, and an appreciation for instrumental performance through engaging and inclusive instruction. This position plans and delivers lessons aligned with curriculum standards for students in individual, small group, and ensemble settings. Responsibilities include teaching music theory, instrumental techniques, sight-reading, and performance skills while fostering creativity, discipline, and teamwork. The teacher organizes and directs concerts, recitals, and other performances, helping students build confidence and showcase their talents. Additional duties include assessing student progress, maintaining accurate records, selecting appropriate instructional materials, and ensuring the proper care and maintenance of instruments and equipment. The Instrumental Music Teacher collaborates with colleagues, administrators, parents, and community members to support student success and promote a positive school culture. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong classroom management, excellent communication skills, and a passion for music education while creating a supportive, inclusive environment where all students are encouraged to achieve their full musical potential.
