Medical-Surgical RN in Ithaca, NY

Key Qualifications:

• Active, unencumbered RN license
• Clinical experience in med-surg, long-term care, and psychiatric nursing
• Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a variety of patients
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for patient and family interactions
• Adaptability to changing patient and unit needs
• A commitment to maintaining professional standards and confidentiality
• Current BLS certification (additional specialty certifications preferred)

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct nursing care to patients in medical-surgical, psychiatry, and long-term care units
• Conduct comprehensive assessments and accurately document changes in patient status
• Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
• Administer medications, monitor responses, and manage side effects
• Educate patients and families about care goals, medications, and health maintenance
• Respond promptly to emergencies and support crisis intervention efforts when required
• Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for all patients
