Job Description The Sourcing Specialist, reporting to a manager of Strategic Sourcing, will support sourcing of components and supplier relationship management for Ethicon. This individual will assist customers with material and process selection for purchases, locate and select suppliers according to category strategies, negotiate prices, develop and administer contracts for strategic suppliers, develop strategic suppliers, and improve large spend category strategies and major business processes such as business continuity and supplier selection to deliver annual improvements in total cost, quality, and service. They will also support sites as needed. The person will develop expertise in the business needs and capabilities for major spend categories or key business processes. They are expected to stay updated on supply market trends, supplier economics, and best practices in sourcing. They will seek to enhance the capabilities of the supplier base or key business processes and report performance data for assigned categories or processes. Effective communication, monitoring, and management of compliance with sourcing strategies or business processes are essential. Establishing close working relationships with functions such as engineering, operations, marketing, and quality is important to ensure understanding and support of strategic sourcing. The Sourcing Specialist will track and manage supplier performance and address issues promptly. The individual will identify data sources for performance metrics, develop processes for data collection, and lead efforts to gather this data. They will champion annual productivity improvements through cost reduction initiatives like lowering inventory levels, increasing yields, and improving supplier operations. Contributing to the continuous development of sourcing knowledge and best practices by identifying and implementing "pockets of excellence" is part of their role. They will partner with stakeholders to resolve technical issues related to components and processes, and ensure training and compliance with company procedures. Qualifications A Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering, Supply Chain, or Operations. An advanced degree is preferred. Six years of manufacturing experience is required. A Certified Purchasing Manager credential is preferred, along with experience in purchasing, materials, or supply chain management. Knowledge of sourcing procedures, purchasing controls, supplier selection processes, manufacturing, production systems, logistics, database management, quality systems, negotiation, contract law, statistical methods, and project management is desirable. Excellent interpersonal, written, oral, and presentation skills are required. Ability to read and understand engineering drawings is also necessary. #J-18808-Ljbffr
