Collection Specialist

TITLE: Medical Billing and AR Collection Specialist CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt REPORTS TO: Medical Billing and Collection Supervisor Summary Responsible for providing Cedar Sinai Park with accurate and timely medical billing and collections processing. Essential Functions Accurate and timely billing, data entry, charge corrections, adjustments, and invoice corrections. Electronic billing of Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party carriers. Accurate use and maintenance of medical billing and collections software/portals including Point Click Care (PCC). Develops action and contingency plans to correct bottlenecks, backlogs, etc., to reach productivity and collection goals. Required Skills/Abilities Consistent execution of quality customer service. Maintains and demonstrates ethical conduct. Able to effectively communicate with geriatric and/or confused residents and a variety of other people such as family members, visitors, vendors, Private Duty Residents, and staff. Positive and constructive attitude. Ability to understand and work with mathematical concepts. Comprehension of medical terminology, advanced keyboard/computer skills. Basic working knowledge of office equipment such as copier, printer. Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel preferred. Knowledge of PCC a plus. Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no supervision responsibilities. Working Environment & Physical Demands This position is required to regularly work on campus. Works in a well-lit and well-ventilated facility. May be exposed to confused, belligerent or physically aggressive residents, may be exposed to contagious diseases and mental stress. Subject to frequent interruptions. Manual dexterity, good vision and hearing is required. Required Education, Experience, Licenses, and Certifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional formal training preferred. 1 – 3 years’ experience in Medicare, Medicaid, third party billing and accounting preferred. Knowledge of insurance guidelines including HMO/PPO, Medicare, Medicaid, and other payer requirements and systems. Familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 Coding.
