Clinical Pharmacist

Job Overview This position maintains and ensures complete and appropriate drug therapy in a multidisciplinary pharmaceutical care environment. The pharmacist oversees patient pharmacy services to ensure optimal outcomes, provides drug information to patients and providers, resolves prior authorizations and insurance billing, and manages the Patient Advocate team. Responsibilities Performs patient assessment and care. Performs prior authorization and insurance resolution services. Oversees the Patient Advocate team. Communicates with patients, providers, and caregivers. Assumes responsibility for professional development and continued education. Participates in special projects/committees as needed. Maintains documentation related to the job. Maintains and fosters an environment of teamwork and engagement. Performs all job duties in accordance with Ochsner Specialty Pharmacy policies and accrediting bodies. Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including respecting privacy, tailoring communication styles, and requesting permissions. Other related duties as required. Education Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (Required) Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) (Preferred) Completion of a PGY1 or PGY2 Pharmacy Practice Residency Work Experience None (Required) 2 years experience as pharmacist (Preferred) Experience in specialty pharmacy (Preferred) Certification License to practice Pharmacy by the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy (Required) Multi-state licensure (Preferred) Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information. Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process. Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard. Strong interpersonal skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office.
