Diagnoses illness, prescribes and administers treatment for injury and disease. Expected to consistently work to ensure patient satisfaction and maintain positive relationships with other physicians and staff to help support the delivery of quality patient care. Performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the mission of Peoples Community Health Clinic, Inc.Protected Health Information Requirements/Access:This position will require the use or disclosure of protected health Information.This position will use the Treatment class of protected health information.Restrictions on the protected health information for this position will follow the Privacy Policies of Peoples Community Health Clinic, Inc.Use or disclosure of protected health information not routinely available to this position will follow procedures assessed by or directed by management.Essential Functions:Performs patient examinations.Orders/performs diagnostic tests on patient to provide information on medical condition.Diagnoses medical condition of patient.Prescribes or administers treatment.Uses effective clinical judgment in referring patients and receiving referrals.Maintains an accurate medical record to support clinical and business documentation requirements.Works to ensure patient satisfaction.Maintains positive relationships with other physicians, staff, and health care students.Plans, implements and/or administers treatment protocols.Supports clinic staff meetings and adheres to guidelines.Supports a service-oriented atmosphere in accordance with Peoples Community Health Clinic Mission and Philosophy.Adheres to policies, procedures, and guidelines.Competencies:Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsHigh language, high math, high reasoning abilityAttention to detailWorking knowledge of MS Office Products (ex. Must be comfortable moving within an EMR computer system regularlyAbility to work within a team setting and to relate to the special needs of the patient populationPlanning and organizingAdaptability and flexibilityPatient Population:Neonate to geriatric patients.Work Environment/Personal Protective Equipment:This position operates in a clinical setting, will be exposed to bloodborne pathogen hazard to eyes, hands and torso, puncture/penetration hazard to hands, particulates and blood/body fluid hazard to respiratory. PPE is required.Physical Demands:This position requires continuous Sitting (67% - 100% of shift); occasional standing (1% - 33% of shift); continuously lifting and carrying up to 10 lbs. (67% - 100% of shift); occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. (34% - 66% of shift); occasional pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs. (34% - 66% of shift); continuous finger dexterity and use of hands/arms for repetitive movement (67% - 100% of shift); frequent twisting and reaching at and below shoulder level; occasional bending/stooping, kneeling, and reaching above shoulder level. (34% - 66% of shift); occasional driving with and without loading and unloading items, occasional exposure to odors.Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:This is a full-time position. Typically work hours and days are between Monday and Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and some flexibility in hours is allowed. Responsibilities occasionally may require irregular hours as deemed necessary. This may include an adjusted work schedule, long days, and early morning or late evening hours in order to meet client scheduling demands. The employee must work a minimum of 40.0 hours each week to maintain full-time status.Travel:Occasional travel and driving are expected for this position.Education and Experience:Graduate of an accredited medical school, with Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy.Completion of a certified residency program.Board certified in specialty or eligible.Primary care physician, preferably with experience with adult and pediatric population.Primary care management experience preferred.Licensure:Must complete all requirements necessary for the practice of medicine in Iowa including:State agreements for payment of health services under Medicare and Medicaid.DEA permission to prescribe and maintain controlled substances.Hospital privileges at local facilities.Malpractice insurability.Board certification or eligibility required in specialty area.Iowa medical license.Other Duties:The statements contained in this job description reflect general details as necessary to describe the principal functions of this job, the level of knowledge and skill typically required, and the scope of responsibility.
