Job Overview

Lofton Staffing is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to set up and operate CNC Lathe and/or Mill equipment to produce precision components for downhole tools and related industrial products. This is a temp-to-hire opportunity through Lofton Staffing with strong long-term potential.

The ideal candidate has hands-on CNC setup experience, strong blueprint reading skills, and is comfortable working with G-code programs and threaded components.
Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC mills and/or lathes for production and first article runs
• Review blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine machining requirements, tolerances, and setup procedures
• Work with new product introductions and ensure production readiness
• Edit, adjust, and verify CNC programs (G-code familiarity required)
• Produce and inspect a variety of threads including straight and taper threads (Acme and buttress experience preferred)
• Select and install tooling, fixtures, and materials for machining operations
• Set machine controls including speed, feed rate, coolant flow, and depth of cut
• Monitor machining operations to detect issues and make necessary adjustments
• Inspect finished parts to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards
• Perform basic machine maintenance and report equipment issues as needed
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
• Collaborate with engineers and production staff to resolve machining issues

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years CNC machining experience OR technical certification with 1+ year of experience
• Strong experience with CNC lathe and/or mill setup and operation
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
• G-code knowledge required
• Experience producing and inspecting threaded components (straight and taper threads; Acme/buttress preferred)
• Ability to use precision measuring tools and perform in-process inspections
• Owns required machinist tools and toolbox
• Strong math skills (algebra, geometry, measurements, tolerances)
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
