Registered Nurse - Client Child Health

The Registered Nurse in Client Child Health is responsible for the provision of direct patient care to a designated group of patients. This position will work collaboratively with unit leadership to follow the scope of practice for nursing governing bodies that apply to Client Child Health. Responsibilities include observation, data collection, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient's physical, psychological, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs. Assesses patients and families, whose needs range from uncomplicated to highly complex. Quickly recognizes normal parameters, deviations, and abnormalities in physical, emotional, developmental, and behavioral status based on past clinical experience. Uses a person-centered care approach in the development of care plans and in prioritizing nursing care to meet patient and family needs. Plans for the care of patients, demonstrating the ability to effectively prioritize both expected and unanticipated needs. Involves patients and families in establishing care goals. Demonstrates critical thinking skills by making appropriate clinical decisions, prioritizing both planned and unplanned events, and proactively addressing potential and actual problems. Demonstrates competence in the implementation of the technical skills required for the care of patients and families. Acts as a resource to peers and demonstrates initiative in remaining current on policies, procedures, and standards. Interventions for the attainment of care goals reflect resourceful involvement of health team members. Facilitates the linking of patients and families with other disciplines and services as needed. Must be able to independently care for mother-baby couplets. Staff are trained in postpartum care and cross-trained in labor and delivery or NICU.
