Grow with us, H2O+U.Your OpportunityStantec is seeking an Industrial Water Client and Market Development Lead to help advance the continued growth of our Industrial Water practice across the US North region and beyond. Reporting to the US North Regional Industrial Water Practice Leader, this role will combine strategic client development, pursuit leadership, account management, project management and technical expertise to deliver innovative industrial water solutions.Key Responsibilities Include:Primary Focus:Business Development: Grow and strengthen industrial water client relationships through strategic account management, targeted client development, and close collaboration with Project Managers, Account Managers, and regional leadership. Lead and support strategic pursuits, proposals, internal cross-selling, and client and market development initiatives that expand Stantec’s Industrial Water presence across various industries such as; High-Tech, Mission Critical, Food & Beverage, Energy, Life Sciences, Chemical Manufacturing, and Mining.Strengthening Market Position: Reinforcing Stantec’s brand and market position as a leader within the industrial water market through active participation in industry organizations and partnerships, thought leadership, and effective communication with strategic clients.Technical Leadership and Project Management: Provide technical leadership and/or project management across industrial water opportunities and projects, including treatment, reuse, process water, wastewater, and related infrastructure solutions.This is a seller-doer position where you can expect to spend about half of your time on business development activities and balance on project work.Leadership and Client Influence:Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, project teams, and pursuit teams.Build strong client relationships, promote accountability, and contribute to a high-performing culture grounded in innovation, inclusion, safety, and exceptional client service.Represent Stantec through professional associations, conferences, and broader industry engagement.Partner with Industrial Water Leaders, Account Managers, Regional Growth Leaders, and other Business Line Leaders to support the creation and execution of focused marketing development plans.Evaluate client drivers, market trends, regulatory factors, and competitive intelligence to inform growth strategies and pursuit positioning.Support go/no-go decisions, risk reviews, proposal development, pursuit budgets, and quarterly revenue forecasting.Connect subject matter experts and resources across regions, sectors, and business lines to pursue strategic opportunities and deliver integrated client solutions.Project Delivery and Execution:Serve as Project Manager, Project Technical Lead, Process Technical Lead, or task leader on various industrial water projects.Mentor junior staff and support the development of future technical leaders, client and market developers, and account managers.Collaborate with Industrial Water Practice Leaders, Account Managers, Sector Leaders, Project Developers, the Stantec Institute, and the Water Strategic Pursuits Team to align expertise with client needs.The ability to organize and prioritize work to meet multiple deadlines.Proficiency in verbal and written communications; an ability to effectively work with and lead teams.Key Performance Indicators:Contribute to client development, marketing, sales, revenue growth, backlog, and budget objectives.Support hit and capture rate goals for strategic pursuits.Maintain regular client engagement.Meet utilization expectations, with a target of 50%.Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree or equivalent in Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, or Environmental Engineering from an accredited institution; master’s degree preferred.Minimum of 15 years of related experience in industrial water, water/wastewater, process engineering, consulting, client and market development, or project delivery.At least 10 years of experience with direct client service management and/or business development.Professional Engineer (PE) license required.This description is not a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that may be required of the employee and other duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned or may be changed at any time with or without notice.Stantec is a place where the best and brightest come to build on each other's talents, do exciting work, and make an impact on the world around us. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
