Role Description The Learning Facilitator is a part‑time, on‑site role based on the University of Montevallo campus in Montevallo, AL. This position supports students’ academic success by guiding learning activities, reinforcing course content, and helping learners develop effective study strategies. Day‑to‑day responsibilities may include leading small‑group sessions, offering one‑on‑one academic support, assisting with instructional materials, and coordinating with faculty to align support with course objectives. The Learning Facilitator will help students engage actively with course concepts, use campus learning resources effectively, and build skills in critical thinking, communication, and independent learning. The role also involves maintaining accurate records of student participation, providing timely feedback, and contributing to a welcoming, inclusive learning environment. Qualifications Ability to facilitate learning, including guiding discussions, leading small‑group activities, and supporting diverse learning styles. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the capacity to explain academic concepts clearly and respectfully to learners with varied backgrounds. Organizational and time‑management skills to balance multiple courses, sessions, and students while meeting deadlines and institutional expectations. Comfort with educational technology and learning platforms, including basic productivity tools and university learning management systems. Commitment to equity, inclusion, and student‑centered support, demonstrating patience, empathy, and professionalism in all interactions. Relevant academic background in education, counseling, or a related field; prior experience tutoring, teaching, or mentoring students is preferred. Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and other support personnel to enhance overall student success and retention.
