Staff Systems Engineer

Abbott seeks a Staff Systems Engineer to lead complex medical device programs with cross-functional integration. The role involves delivering systems solutions, managing program execution, conducting verification testing, and serving as a subject matter expert for implantable device development while ensuring regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex programs exercising significant novelty and cross-disciplinary integration across multiple teams
• Plan and execute development strategy, capture requirements, design solutions, and track progress toward objectives
• Conduct system-level characterization and verification testing; collect, analyze, and document results
• Serve as subject matter expert on designated systems and advise development teams on behaviors and customer needs
• Foster cross-functional collaboration and influence stakeholders to drive program completion and issue resolution

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, or related engineering field (or equivalent experience)
• Minimum 8 years of progressively responsible systems engineering and product development experience
• Expertise in electrical, electro-mechanical, software, mathematical, chemical, or biomedical technologies for implantable systems
• Strong knowledge of FDA design control standards and ISO development processes
• Demonstrated ability to integrate information across clinical, engineering, marketing, and regulatory disciplines
• Domain knowledge of cardiac rhythm management devices strongly preferred
• Effective communication and collaboration skills across matrixed organizational structures

Compensation: $114,000–$228,000 base
