Job Description
This role focuses on operating and setting up a 3-axis CNC horizontal boring mill on 2nd shift in a small, family-style job shop environment. You will perform complete machine setups, make precise offsets and adjustments, interpret G and M code and blueprints, and work with large, delicate castings and steel components. Responsibilities
Why Work Here?
You will join a small, family-owned shop that offers a close-knit, supportive environment with a true \"mom and pop\" feel. The organization provides a steady workload in a stable industry with a wide variety of projects, so your work remains interesting and is not tied to volatile market segments. You will contribute to meaningful defense and aerospace projects that offer a strong sense of pride and purpose. The company supports you with medical, dental, and vision benefits, a 401(k) plan, and paid time off that begins accruing in your first year. You can also enjoy a flexible schedule within the 2nd shift framework and the opportunity for 50+ hours per week, providing both stability and the chance to grow your earnings while advancing your skills.
Work Environment
The position is based in a small, family-owned tool and die job shop that emphasizes a collaborative, hands-on work style. You will work on 2nd shift, Monday through Friday, from 3:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., with regular opportunities for overtime that can bring your weekly hours above 50. The shop focuses on low-volume, high-mix work, including defense and aerospace components, which involves frequent setups and a variety of part types and sizes. You will operate CNC horizontal boring mills equipped with Fanuc controls and work primarily with castings and steel materials. The environment requires regular use of precision measuring tools and metrology equipment, as well as safe operation of overhead cranes or hoists to move large casings and parts. The facility maintains a traditional machining shop atmosphere where practical, safety-conscious attire suitable for a machine shop is expected.
