Job Description

The Cleanroom Production Operator works in the cartridge department, manufacturing a disposable cartridge component that stores insulin and integrates with a pump system. This role focuses on highvolume production in an ISO Class 8 cleanroom, following strict contamination-control and quality standards. You will assemble medical device components, operate and monitor semi-automated equipment, perform inspections, and maintain accurate documentation to ensure each cartridge is safe and reliable for use with insulin.

Responsibilities

• Assemble disposable cartridge components used in insulin delivery systems according to established procedures and work instructions.
• Work on a high-volume manufacturing line as part of a team to complete assemblies efficiently and accurately.
• Monitor semi-automated manufacturing processes to ensure consistent product quality and throughput.
• Operate production machinery and equipment safely and in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Rotate through multiple production lines, including visual and dimensional inspections, running automated machines, sub-assembly and welding, and product testing.
• Review batch records and production documentation for completeness and accuracy, correcting or escalating discrepancies as needed.
• Follow cleanroom and contamination-control practices at all times to protect fluid-path components and maintain sterile manufacturing conditions.
• Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards and quality guidelines for medical device production.
• Use computer systems to complete training modules, enter production data, and maintain electronic documentation.
• Follow detailed instructions and SOPs from any relevant industry background and apply them consistently in daily tasks.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with cleanroom and safety requirements.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Demonstrate flexibility by cross-training and working in different departments or buildings as production needs change.
• Support packaging, inspection, and other related activities as needed to keep overall production flowing.
• Be available and willing to work overtime as required to meet increased production demands over extended periods.

• Strong attention to detail to perform accurate assembly, inspection, and documentation in a medical device environment.

• Comfort working on computers for training, documentation, and data entry.
• Ability to work as part of a team on a manufacturing line and communicate clearly with colleagues.

• Capability to work in a cleanroom environment and follow strict contamination-control procedures.
• Mechanical aptitude to perform mechanical and medical device assembly tasks.
• Ability to work scheduled shifts of 10 hours and perform overtime when necessary.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in a fast-paced production or manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
• background in disposable product manufacturing, medical device manufacturing, or fluid-path components is a plus.
• Experience with inspection activities in a regulated or quality-focused environment.
• Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards.
• Experience with mechanical assembly, medical assembly, or packaging operations.
• Trainable and open to learning new processes, equipment, and departments.
• Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities and work locations within a short distance.
• Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to be cross-trained and support multiple production lines.

Work Environment

You will work primarily in the cartridge department within an ISO Class 8 cleanroom, focused on disposable medical device manufacturing for insulin delivery. The pace of work is high and expected to increase, so flexibility with tasks and assignments is essential. Employees may move between departments or nearby buildings, such as a packaging team located approximately 2.5 miles away, depending on where work is needed. The role requires comfort with an AWS (alternative work schedule) of four 10-hour shifts, with first shift typically running from 4:00 AM to 2:30 PM Monday through Thursday and second shift from 3:00 PM to 1:30 AM Monday through Thursday, with overtime paid only after 10 hours in a day or 40 hours in a week. Cleanroom dress code and contamination-control rules are strict: you must wear required PPE such as hair cover, lab coat or gown, and gloves; follow hand washing and glove-use procedures; avoid all fragrances, makeup, and lipstick; avoid fake or acrylic nails; wear pants (no leggings or shorts); tuck necklaces into your shirt; and use side shields with glasses. The environment is structured, process-driven, and safety-focused, with all training and documentation completed on computers and a strong emphasis on quality, reliability, and teamwork.

Shift 3pm- 1:30am

This is a Contract position based out of San Diego, CA.

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.76/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
