The Calaveras County Office of Education ("CCOE") partners with our four local school districts and the community to provide quality education to our county's 5,270 students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grades. We manage alternative education programs for students at Calaveras River Academy, Mountain Oaks Charter School (an Independent Study program), and Oakendell Community School. We also offer adult education services, and a variety of special education services as the Responsible Local Agency ("RLA") for the Special Education Local Plan Area ("SELPA"); including, five special education preschool programs and a program for transition-aged young adults (ages 18-22).
CCOE is now hiring for a variety of full and part-time positions, whether serving in the classroom or supporting operations outside of the classroom. CCOE offers competitive wages, most with health and retirement benefits. Enjoy evenings, weekends, and holidays off.

Job Summary Substitutes - Childcare and State Preschools (Teachers, Site Supervisors, Aides, etc.) are employed on an on-call day-to-day basis. Substitutes are expected to fulfill all functions of the substitute position in a satisfactory manner. Requirements / Qualifications Comments and Other Information Minimum requirements to be a Substitute within the Child Development Programs would be to qualify for a Child Development Associate Teacher Permit. Option 1
1. Complete a minimum of 12 semester units of course work in early childhood education or child development (excluding field work), including at least one course of at least three semester units in each of the following core areas:
* Child/human growth and development
* Child, family, and community, or child and family relations
* Programs/curriculum
2. Complete at least 50 days of experience in an instructional capacity in a child care and development program, working at least three hours per day within the last two years. This experience must be verified by submitting an original letter from the employer on official letterhead.
Option 2

Child Development Permits are available at various levels. Each level has one or more ways to qualify.
