Status: Hourly $25/hr contract to hire or direct hire

Position Summary

We are seeking a hands-on, dependable Facilities Coordinator to take ownership of the day-to-day maintenance, appearance, safety, and overall functionality of a manufacturing facility and its grounds. This is a newly created position designed for someone who enjoys variety, works well independently, and is comfortable taking initiative. The Facilities Coordinator will be responsible for both indoor and outdoor facility needs while also supporting manufacturing operations through preventive maintenance and cross-training on production equipment. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, basic computer skills, and the ability to recognize maintenance needs before they become larger problems.

Key Responsibilities

• Take day-to-day ownership of the overall condition, cleanliness, safety, and appearance of the facility and property.
• Perform routine building maintenance and minor repairs, including basic carpentry, painting, hardware repairs, and general facility upkeep.
• Conduct regular facility inspections and proactively identify maintenance, repair, and safety needs.
• Cross-train on designated production machinery to develop an understanding of equipment operation and basic maintenance requirements.
• Perform and assist with preventive maintenance on manufacturing equipment according to established schedules and procedures.
• Utilize computer-based systems to document completed preventive maintenance, update maintenance records, and track upcoming service requirements.
• Troubleshoot basic mechanical and facility-related issues and determine when outside technical assistance is required.
• Maintain exterior grounds, including lawn and landscape upkeep, seasonal cleanup, parking areas, sidewalks, entrances, and loading areas.
• Assist with or perform snow and ice removal to maintain safe access to the facility.
• Maintain general cleanliness and organization throughout manufacturing, warehouse, office, restroom, breakroom, and common areas.
• Monitor facility supplies and coordinate replenishment as needed.
• Assist with equipment moves, installations, workspace modifications, and facility improvement projects.
• Coordinate with outside contractors, maintenance vendors, and service providers when specialized work is required.
• Maintain appropriate records related to inspections, preventive maintenance, repairs, vendor services, and facility activities.
• Support facility safety initiatives and identify potential hazards requiring corrective action.
• Assist manufacturing departments with facility-related and operational needs as required.
• Be available for flexible hours when necessary, including occasional early mornings, evenings, weekends, or weather-related situations involving snow removal, facility emergencies, equipment issues, or operational needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical or mechanical training is a plus.
• Previous experience in facilities maintenance, industrial maintenance, manufacturing, mechanical work, building maintenance, or a related hands-on environment preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability and willingness to learn manufacturing equipment.
• Experience performing basic preventive maintenance or working around industrial machinery strongly preferred.
• Basic computer skills with the ability to enter information, maintain records, and learn a computerized preventive maintenance tracking system.
• Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, lawn equipment, snow removal equipment, and basic maintenance equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot problems and determine priorities with limited supervision.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities throughout the facility.
• Dependable, self-motivated, and willing to take ownership of issues from identification through completion.
• Ability to communicate effectively with employees, management, vendors, and contractors.
• Valid driver's license preferred.

Physical & Work Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and reach throughout the workday.
• Ability to regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds and heavier items with assistance.
• Comfortable working in both indoor manufacturing environments and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to safely operate maintenance, lawn care, and snow removal equipment.
• Ability to work around manufacturing machinery and wear required personal protective equipment.
