Lead Mental Health Technician (MHT)

Three Trails Behavioral Hospital in the area of Independence, MO is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Lead Mental Health Technician (MHT) to join our day team. This role combines direct patient care with some leadership responsibilities, serving as a resource to staff and ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and patient-centered care. The ideal candidate is a dependable team player with strong behavioral health experience who can lead by example in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.

The Lead Mental Health Technician (MHT) will:

• Provide direct patient care and supervision in a behavioral health setting
• Act as a shift resource for MHT staff, offering guidance and support as needed
• Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment at all times
• Conduct routine patient safety checks and observations
• Support patients with daily living activities as appropriate
• Respond appropriately to situations and behavioral escalations
• Collaborate with nursing and clinical staff to support patient care plans

Three Trails Behavioral Hospital will:

• Serve children and adolescents, adults and seniors with innovative and evidence-based inpatient behavioral healthcare focused on individual needs and comfort
• Create more than 200 new, full-time jobs including nurses, clinicians, therapists, technicians and administrative staff, when the facility is fully operational
• Be located at the intersection of I-70 and Little Blue Parkway, adjacent to the Children's Mercy Hospital Outpatient Clinics
• Feature 120 licensed beds ready to meet the mental health needs of the surrounding community
• Span more than 88,000 square feet, and will include an activity yard and gym

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Associate's or bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or related field (preferred)
• Previous experience in behavioral health, psychiatric care, or healthcare setting preferred
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and observational skills
• Must be able to manage challenging behaviors with professionalism and empathy
• Current BLS/CPR certification or ability to obtain upon hire
• Ability to work 12 hour shifts
