Job Title: Tool and Die Maker Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Tool and Die Maker to manage the overall plan for die construction and detail fabrication, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to delivery schedules. This role requires expertise in routing procedures for all machined components and a comprehensive understanding of various machine tools.

Responsibilities

• Create and manage the overall plan for die construction or detail fabrication.
• Assemble, set up, develop, and trial all types of metal stamping dies.
• Participate in design reviews to assess die concept layouts, preliminary and final designs.
• Set up and operate tool room equipment such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to machine parts.
• Verify conformance of machined parts to specifications.
• Review planned inspection procedures with inspection technicians and designers during the design stage of projects.
• Determine necessary dimensions for development with design teams and plan a systematic process for development.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in tool and die making and tooling.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Strong project management skills.
• Mechanical skills, including experience with manual mills, drill presses, lathes, grinders, CNC machining centers, and Wire EDM machines.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in project coordination.
• Understanding of press operation and set up, along with manual and automatic stock feeding procedures.
• 4 to 10 years of experience in related roles.

Work Environment

The role operates on a 1st Shift, Monday through Friday from 6:45 am to 3:30 pm. Expect high noise levels from operating machines, physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts, exposure to fumes, dust, and mist, as well as skin exposure to oils and cutting fluid.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Nashville, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $38.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
